and this. Just think, a million of these stalks just staring at me.
Determined to proclaim my continued devotion to my sweet Day Lily, I decide to do something that I have never done before. An idea that not only keeps me "green" but also keeps me in good grace with mother nature.
I went out and picked all the spent stems from the Daylilies and trimmed off about an inch from the bottoms
I then took Ivy Green Rust-Oleum spray paint and coated the entire stem front and back, and let the stems dry completely
I then placed my new found "green " idea in a container on the patio.
It provides some nice color and interest for something that would have just ended up on the ground, unnoticed as it decomposed.
Mother Nature thinks it's a cool idea too!

that isa really fun idea! we have daylilies, but just planted them so not quite enough stems left.... but in a couple years!
Brilliant, Laura! I just love this idea! Easy, sassy and costs no money!
Oh, Laura! What a GREAT idea! I, too, have a love of the daylily. (Inherited from my mother.) I'll be yanking out those daylily canes and spraypainting them, too. Stay tuned for where they go and what they do.
I will have to remember that for next year. I've already composted all of mine from this year.
That is a great idea for using those. Our daylilies quit doing right and I dug them up, but I remember having to pull those stems out.
The stems looks great painted. What an idea!
What a great idea! I miss the daylilies we had at our old house.
I am totally going to do this! I have so many of these stems! Thanks for idea!

This is genius!!
Yikes....I just tossed stems a couple of weeks ago....never again! Thanks for sharing a green and very cute idea.
I think this idea qualifies as "why didn't I think of that?".

Fabulous!!! Bliss is right---"why didn't I think of that?"
I also love day lilies. My husband can't stand them and one year while I was out of town he chose to mow them down. To my joy they came back with a vengence the next year. We had so many we gave them away at my daughter's bday party. Thanks for this GREAT idea:+)
