My Summer 'Southern' Front Porch

I know what they say.......that the kitchen is the heart of the home. The place where family and friends congregate, laugh and celebrate. But for me and my family it's right here on our front porch.
A front porch surrounded by beautiful color with it's big white columns, stone floors, ceiling fans and enough seating and conversation for my entire town's population.
A front porch where I can sit and drink my hot tea in the morning or a cold sweet tea in the afternoon.
A porch where the only music you hear are the sounds of nature.
A front porch that occasionally serves as date night with my husband.
A front porch where we can sit back and watch our kids playing and laughing in the front yard.
A front porch where memories are created...... and memories are talked about.
A front porch that symbolizes who we are and how welcomed we want others to feel when they are here.
A front porch that once you are here, you may not want to leave. But that's okay.....
The chairs are pretty comfy.......and I make the best sweet tea!
What room is the heart of your home?
PS- Stay awhile and check out my Summer Home Tour here

Grateful for~
A place that I really love- My Front Porch!

I love your big beautiful southern porch and wish I had one. Don't know why I didn't think of one. Oh, well, I will just have to hang out on yours.

Absolutely beautiful! Four houses and I still haven't gotten my large front porch. Maybe number five will be the one.

Your front porch is probably my favorite "room" in your home! It looks so comfortable and relaxing!

Love those initials! I might steal that idea especially during the times of the year when I have nothing to put up there! What a gorgeous porch you have! I would definitely be out there all day sipping tea too! Enjoy!

OK, I'm just flat out jealous of that porch. We don't have porches like that in this part of the country. We just don't Our back patio is as close as it gets but it doesn't have that character and I can talk in a normal voice to my next door neighbor.

We don't see front porches like that up here in Western WA that often - it is gorgeous! Love the initial idea, too. My son has a serious girlfriend who is from the south originally and I am enjoying hearing her family traditions.

Ours is nowhere as large or gorgeous as yours, but we love sitting out there too. We sit on the back deck in the morning (shady) and the front porch in the afternoon and early evening. I dread the onslaught of the bugs which will be coming out soon. ugh

thanks for sharing. xxoo

I agree, Laura. Front porches are the best. We've been hanging out a lot there lately. It is our favorite part of the house :)

Laura...your porch looks like the cover of Southern Living...and it should be...It is truly a Southern Porch with all the beauty and charm of the south...I so wish I had a large front porch...I have rockers on my back porch "veranda" and have contemplated replacing them with white wicker...you are truly inspiring me to do so!!...

Absolutely love your porch! I would never go in if I had a porch like that :)

Gorgeous! Your words about how you spend your time on the porch add the "aaahhh" factor to your pics! It is a nice change to see the white wicker when so much of it is the dark brown nowadays. White seems so "porch-like"!

I would say that the heart of my home is our bedroom. That's where I get to be myself. I can decorate it however I want and not be worried about what others would think. But if I had that kind of porch at our house, I think it would be the heart of my home as well. Very calming. If I'm stressed, I can stay there all afternoon.

No wonder your family loves to hang out on the porch. It’s so beautiful! I just love porches of southern houses. They’re spacious, well-lit, and well-ventilated. Perfect for a get-together on a weekend afternoon.
