My New Years Party

This year my husband and I will ring in the new year like we usually do...... In our typically New Years Eve fashion.

We will be drinking champagne from the same glasses that we first toasted at our wedding , not in some fancy gown or tux, probably just a pair of gap sweats and bunny slippers.

And while we are watching the crystal ball drop from Times Square in New York, we can look up at our own glass balls hanging from the light.....without the crowds and noise.

The table will be surrounded by Dollar Store party favors that I embellished with a little feather and fabric to match my Hobby Lobby bandannas that I used as napkins. Get all the details here.

And as usual we will get some takeout...Chinese food, skip the cookies and talk about our own fortunes and misfortunes that happened over the last year, and all the things we hope to accomplish in the New Year.

Year after year, it's the most sought after party in town!
How will you be welcoming the New Year? Bunny slippers or fancy gown?

Happy New Year to you and those that you love. I hope 2014 is everything that you want it to be.....and more!

Grateful for~
Every minute of my life

December Highlights

Last month of the year
Last days of the month
Last day of the week
It's been a wonderful month, and I am kinda sad that it's coming to an end. A month filled with holiday home tours, school parties, holiday baking and children's smiles. But with it's ending, comes a whole new year filled with lots of new projects, goals and adventure.
But before we get ready to countdown to the New Year, I wanted to share a few highlights from the month at Top This Top That.

I hope you enjoy this last weekend of the year. Go out and do something amazing!

New Years Decorations....Fast and Easy

If  you like fast and easy.....this is your day.
If you want to create a few New Years decorations......then it got even better! Your welcome.

I wanted to share a few ideas that I am using to create a fun New Years table.

Don't worry about not being in Times Square to see the ball drop or dancing at your local disco. Create your own by hanging silver ornaments with string from a light or the ceiling. Instant disco balls!

Create a black and white tablescape with .99 bandannas from the craft store and use them as napkins. Pair them with white plates and silver charges for a dose of New Years glam.

Stop by the dollar store and pick up noise makers and cover them with the bandanna fabric. Cut your fabric to size and use tacky spray to secure to the horn.

While you are at the Dollar Store, pick up some party hats and trim the edges with black and silver boa from the craft store.

Take that same black and silver boa, and wrap it around a cardboard cone for a quick and fun table centerpiece.

Boas or not, be safe and have fun ringing in the New Year!

Grateful for~
Resolutions ....whether you keep them or not

Christmas Mantel and Letter to Santa

Dear Santa,

We are ready..... you can come down the chimney now. We have waited for this night all year. And don't worry, although we are beyond excited, we will do our best to be asleep at 11:59 pm and be up at 6:00 am. Plenty of time for you to do your thing......and have a snack.

The tree is up and our stockings are hung. We made some cookies with mom.....but we ate your share yesterday. Yum.
They were really good.

Sorry about that Santa. We really have been good this year....... Honest.
We will leave some fresh carrots and extra cheeze- its for you, they will be in the kitchen here.

And Santa, since this house is blessed with lots of love already, please leave a little extra something under the trees for the children who need it more then we do....... That's what we really want for Christmas.

Tell ya what Santa, to make things a bit easier for you to see, we'll even leave the lights on the tree for you.

Glowing and twinkling..... just like Rudolph's nose.

Merry Christmas Santa!

With love and grateful hearts forever,
                          Us

PS- Santa, if you and your elf's have some extra time and want to see more of our holiday home........ and take a potty break, you can go here.

Christmas Kitchen

If you came to my house, this is the area that you would flock to. Always happens.
Friends, family, neighbors, strangers, the pets...... they always do.
And that's not such a bad thing....especially at Christmas time.

The kitchen.....the absolute heart of our home.
In fact, not only can we see the family tree as we sit down at the table to eat, but we can also see it when we are cooking, baking, washing the dishes, doing homework, reading the paper.... and watching tv.

And if you come for breakfast, I may even cook some of these for you. But you gotta come early in the morning and .....help squeeze the oj.

See, since we swapped our family room for the breakfast room, the holiday season has never been quite the same in this area.
It's so much better.

My beloved farmhouse table that you can read about here , sitting fireside with the family stockings hanging overhead.
And now I have lot's more knooks to place my holiday decor and giant pine cones alongside my collection of pottery and family photos.

The butlers pantry with it's month long stash of holiday treats and cocoa, set up for the children is always ready

and stocked with beverages overhead for our adult guests.

In fact there's even a bonus. When you are my husband watching the TV in the family room, and calling out to me as I do the dishes in the kitchen, this is the view that he see's.
Totally kidding.... I am probably loading the dishwasher.

But that's okay, cause I totally love the man, my kitchen and this wreath that I made 20 years ago.

Maybe even a bit more at Christmas time.

PS- to see more of my holiday home you can click here.

Grateful for~
The giggles and chuckles that Sparky our elf has provided to the kids this season.
Thanks for putting up with all the fun that I have had posting on facebook and instagram.
