Weekly Wow's

Hey Sweet friends! Happy Weekend.
Hooray! We had a few changes to the sleep schedule this week, as I think the kids are finally getting use to not having to get up before the crack of dawn like they do during the school year. Me on the other hand, can't seem to change my internal clock, and I am up with the roosters! So in the quiet moments of the morning, just before the noise errupts, I found some fabulous projects that will surely inspire.

Mason Jar lid coasters.  How perfect for the backyard patio this summer. Tutorial here.

Gorgeous...you should see what the table looked like before Artsy Chicks Rule painted it.

Super cool use of a steel drum from here.

Looking for a weekend project? This would be perfect!

or how about an outdoor tent from Daisy Mae Belle. So precious...and super easy.

What are your plans for the weekend? Will you be sleeping in or up with the roosters?

grateful for~
a healthy family

My 'No Name' Summer Dessert

I am probably taking a huge risk today sharing this mouth watering, perfect on a summer day, crowd pleasing dessert.

The risk isn't in the level of difficultly. Or even the ingredients that went into it. Nope, that was easy......even for a non-cook like me.

Start with premade sugar cookies and mold them inside a mini muffin pan. Bake as directed.

Next, whip up some vanilla instant pudding. Set, cool and then scoop a tablespoon inside the cookie cups. No risk here.

Slice a banana and finish off with a dollop of whip cream. Refrigerate until ready to serve.

The risk you ask.....what to name this super easy, super delish dessert.
Believe me, I have tried. I actually served these for lunch with friends over the weekend and some ideas that were suggested....in between bites.... Sugar Cookie Cups, Vanilla Cookie Treats and The No Namer. We obviously didn't get far....but did manage to eat them all.

So tell me, what name would you give them?

PS- I made great use of the cake plate that I made here. My friends never knew it was a toothbrush holder.

Grateful~
For friendships that will last forever

Summer Mantel 2014...Almost, Kinda, Sorta

Although summer doesn't officially begin until June 21st, many believe that it's Memorial Day that kicks off the summer season.

You know, the time where it's okay to start wearing your white shorts and time to put away those boots, unless your the kind that wears boots with your Daisy Dukes that is.
So, since it's almost, kinda, sorta summer, I figured I would usher in Summer time on the mantel this weekend.

I think my mantel evokes my thoughts about summer......bright, simple, beachy with a touch of orange and aqua blue.

Some orange wooden buoys got a little refresh with white and a pop of aqua to coordinate with some wooden oars that I painted.

The beach sign that I made here, that I absolutely love... has surfaced every year and points South to the .......

Sea glass colored vessel that has some "pretend" beach grass in it. I sprayed some dried greens with white paint...Shhhhh, don't tell anyone, especially this guy......

This Sperm Whale print that I framed in one of my Ribba frames from IKEA .... was actually the inspiration for it all. Factoid for you.  Did you know The Sperm whale is the world's largest toothed predatory fish. Males can reach longer than 65 feet and females 35 feet. Luckily for me and most of you, we should be able to spot one.

And although this makes me feel slightly better when building sand castles at the beach this year, every time I dip my toe in the ocean I think about the original movie 'Jaws' ...and how after all these years it still creeps me out.
How about you?
Happy start of summer.....well almost.

PS- If you really want to be the subject matter expert on Whales while sitting on the beach this summer go here.

Grateful for~
A beach vacation this summer

Weekly Wows....Summer Break Kick Off

Well, we made it through the first week of summer vacation...... and without any major incident. The kids are still trying to find their groove, and the idea of sleeping in still hasn't set in, but I am hoping that will kick in any day, just like their love for pizza ... and each other.

Here's a few things that I spotted this week, that I thought you should see.

Painted leather chair from Beneath My Heart. Love this. Have you ever tried painting leather before?

Run, don't walk. I hear that Home Goods has these at a very reasonable price.

Super cute holiday stemware. Tutorial here. I think the above would look cute with this painted treatment as well.

Don't throw out the kids toy horses just yet.

Looks absolutely delish from here.

Got any plans for the long weekend? We are hosting a camp out on the property with some friends....can't decide between the sleeping bag, my bed... or recently transformed craft room.
Have a fabulous weekend!

PS. Be sure to see my other Weekly Wow's here.

Grateful for~
Longer days, more giggles

Craftalicious...Craft Room Reveal

Of all the projects that I am so thrilled to have completed, this ranks right up there...
My Craft Room.

Today, I am taking you through a random little journey into a space that makes me quite happy, motivated, and more organized then I knew I could be.
Before I share some of the changes, I wanted to remind you how this space started....and then you will know why my new space makes me feel the way it does.

The transformation is so amazing that even I, have a hard time believing that this image was taken from the exact same spot just months apart. You can see the entire journey here and here.

To be fair, I am not the only one who is thrilled with the new space.
The color pencils are happy they now can be organized and easily found when needed.

This picture of my sweet mom and siblings is happy because I spray painted it to coordinate with the hot pink rug that I got from Mohawk that serves as the focal point for the room.

The lampshade that I made is happy, because it gets to sit on the 'sewing side' of the room and provide some extra light. The clock, frame and peg board holders are happy cause they were also sprayed to match everything else.

The cabinets from the garage are happy, because they were refreshed and repainted white and are so much happier holding my craft supplies, then holding garage junk.

The craft table is much happier now that I painted it white, then it was when it was black and being used in the breakfast area in the kitchen. The glass top is perfect when cleaning up a craft mess.

The gift bags and wrapping paper are happy because they are hung neatly on peg board and ready to go when needed.

My husband is much happier because this is the view that he sees each day when he walks into his office on the other side of the wall that we put up. You can read more about that here.

Even my kids are happier, because they now have a great space to come up to and craft, color and make mom special cards that just melt her heart.

Everyone is so happy...... in fact, I could have sworn that the glue sticks and scissors were holding hands singing kumbaya the other day.
What space in your home makes you just so ..... happy?

BloomStruck™ Hydrangeas + $100 Giveaway!

Before I moved onto our farm, I had no idea what my green thumb was capable of... nor did I know it existed.
Flowers and vegetables were store bought each week, I was more concerned with my freshly done manicure then getting my hands dirty and I had no earthly idea what the difference between a perennial and an annual was. Email me if you don't, and I will tell you.
Then we built a home here, in the country, on a dirt road in the middle of no where. Where we have plenty of land, a tractor named Bubba, and... lots of dirt. And so with visions of beautiful flowering blooms in my head, we started digging and built my very first garden.

Initially it was going to be a cutting garden, but the tractor kept on digging and digging and soon I realized that this would be a place where I can not only cut from but also sit and enjoy.

Over the years, my garden has evolved and grown into what was once a surface of red Georgia clay with my outline of a path meandering through the future flowers, into the exact vision that I had in my head so many years ago... and so much more.

And along that meandering pathway there is one plant that has stayed loyal and faithful, growing and coming back each year. My hydrangeas.
I actually have a few varieties of hydrangeas  currently in my garden in blue and pink but am pretty excited about a new plant that I will be putting in the garden this summer called BloomStruck from the Endless Summer® Collection.   BloomStruck hydrangeas have sturdy red stems to hold those big beautiful blooms, which is perfect if I choose not to  cut them,  they will provide blooms all summer because they re-bloom, and are perfect for my garden cause they  prefer morning sun and the afternoon shade. The best part.....
they are easy to grow and require very little maintenance and time. That's my kind of gardening!
And the bonus is... being able to cut the blooms all season and bring them in house...
to enjoy. Which was also a part of my original vision. But just more beautiful.  Did you know soil pH really does dictate bloom color....just ask my hydrangeas, they will tell you.
And since I am just the girl who got on her tractor years ago and started digging in the dirt, afraid to ruin her freshly manicured nails, you can find more details about the Endless Summer® Collection from the professionals  here.
 ENDLESS EASE.
 ENDLESS COLOR.
 ENDLESS POSSIBILITIES

Contest has ended and winner will be notified via mail.

Speaking of possibilites, I would love to giveaway a $100.00 Visa Card to one of my readers. Just leave me a comment telling me what your favorite flowers from the garden... or grocery store are.
Good Luck!
